We’re aiming to have all of our students achieve ASE certification, denoting Automotive Service Excellence,” explained Ramos. The National Institute for ASE is a professional organization that certifies technicians and auto shops within the automotive repair and servicing sector.

For Jose Taje, who attends Hialeah High School, participating in the program evokes numerous pleasant recollections. He mentions, “As a child, I enjoyed watching my grandfather and father collaborate on car repairs, which seemed fascinating to me. I am deeply thankful to Miami-Dade County Public Schools for providing me with this chance.”

Hialeah Senior High School’s Automotive Service Technology program provides students with an extensive education in car repair and upkeep. Tailored to prepare participants for success in the auto sector, this course teaches them through practical sessions using advanced equipment and technologies to identify issues and fix cars. Course content encompasses various areas such as engine servicing, braking mechanisms, electrical frameworks, among others.

The Vice President and General Manager of Gus Machado, Victor Benitez, is a graduate of Hialeah High School.

In 1973, I completed my education. The public school system shaped me into who I am today, as everything I've achieved stems from those formative years spent within the public educational framework," stated Benitez. "There was a time when this space functioned as a workshop where students were prepared for careers as automobile technicians.

Once the proposal for teaching students to become mechanics at Hialeah High reached Benitez, he understood they needed to explore this opportunity regardless of the expenses involved.

I believe this will be the spot where upcoming batches of students turn into skilled professionals, which is why we put in significant resources," stated Benitez. "It’s incredibly satisfying to see our efforts come together in establishing a technical institute designed not just for Hialeah High School students, but also benefiting those attending Miami Lakes Technical College and Adult Center.

Dr. Starsheema Greene, who directs the Miami Lakes Educational & Technical Colleges, concurred that this collaboration holds significant importance for Gus Machado Ford.

Machado stated, "My spouse has always had a strong inclination toward teaching and providing chances for youngsters." He believed this would serve as an excellent role model since it offers them a chance to gain knowledge about the automotive sector. Therefore, this holds significant personal value for me."
