Something really cool is headed to the Petersen Automotive Museum. Beginning on June 7th. ^th The museum plans to launch its inaugural retrospective exhibit celebrating '80s and '90s automobile culture. Titled "Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the ’80s and ’90s," this showcase will highlight distinctive concept cars along with iconic vehicles from popular media during those decades.

According to the press release, the new exhibit “marks the museum’s first large-scale retrospective dedicated entirely to the iconic time period’s stylistic innovations and cultural impact.”

Situated within the Mullin Grand Salon, "Totally Awesome! Cars and Culture of the '80s and '90s" will highlight the cool rides and styles from those decades through an exclusive assortment of concept cars, production models, motorcycles, and iconic vehicles featured in movies and TV shows. Guests can look forward to engaging experiences as well, such as playing classic video games and exploring technologies that were prominent during this time period.

During the '80s and '90s, the automotive world experienced notable changes in design due to the adoption of computer-aided design technology and the rise of Japanese manufacturers as dominant players globally. This era introduced features like digital instrument panels, turbocharged engines, and cutting-edge aesthetics. Additionally, popular cultural touchstones such as "Back to the Future," "Knight Rider," and "Wayne's World" helped elevate automobiles to become legendary icons featured in movies.
