Authorities in New York City recently cracked down on a major luxury car theft ring That was a multimillion-dollar operation. The members of the group were quite brazen, even going so far as to use parking garage as a sort of showroom For the purloined vehicles, enabling potential purchasers to peruse and inspect them prior to buying.

Of course, the operation reached far beyond the Big Apple, with the thieves stealing luxury vehicles like Rolls-Royces from New Jersey and Connecticut. These stolen vehicles were transported to a parking garage in the Bronx, with the owner of the garage remaining unaware of everything.
Not surprisingly, many of the high-end vehicles bought with cash were subsequently filled up. shipping containers and slipped past customs, heading to West Africa, according to reports CBS News .
In the bust, authorities recovered 72 cars worth an estimated $6.6 million, plus charged eight men in New York City with crimes related to the thefts. Another eleven suspects, including one minor, were hit with charges in New Jersey the week before.

Vehicle theft continues to be an escalating issue in numerous regions despite significant crackdowns such as this one. This does not diminish the importance of these cases; however, countless other criminals stand prepared to fill the void left behind when an established theft network is dismantled.
That’s why you can’t just relax and stop trying to secure your vehicles. While locking your doors and not leaving the fob inside are good steps so many don’t follow, you should try parking in a secure building whenever possible, have multiple trackers on your ride, look at a pre-ignition anti-theft device, and install cameras wherever you put your car when you’re home.
Staying alert proves worthwhile and sadly remains crucially important.
