SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Acura RDX was first introduced nearly 20 years ago and has done quite well in the smaller luxury crossover segment.
High-end crossover vehicles have seen significant growth from the outset. Specifically, the RDX, especially when equipped with the A-Spec trim package, merges the dependability, craftsmanship, and technical reputation of the Honda/Acura family with an exquisite level of opulence, advanced safety features, and cutting-edge entertainment technology.
The upscale division of Acura adopted a distinct strategy compared to other high-end subbrands such as Toyota’s Lexus and Nissan’s Infiniti. The model being tested, equipped with the complete A-Spec Sport Performance kit, emphasizes formidable performance for intense driving sessions.
Honda and Acura have real racing credibility on many major circuits around the world and are widely considered to have the most advanced engine technology in motorsports. Acura styling has always been strong and distinctive. For instance, this year the company has revealed a new grille treatment.
Beneath the surface, a powerful 272-horsepower engine drives this approximately 4,000-pound SUV-like vehicle with enthusiasm. Despite its luxurious appointments and high-end features, the RDX is notably enjoyable and highly adept at navigating roads.
The Acura boasts a 10.2-inch central command screen; however, it keeps the driver information separate from other entertainment and technology features.
Starting at $46,000, the upgraded RDX A-Spec comes with a price tag just above $50,000.
